DIY Service Pack
Offline Updates Handout
Offline Updates Slides
Installing Windows updates without an internet connection c’t Project Offline Updates.
It downloads the updates and builds a .iso file which you then burn to a CD.
Works for Win2k, WinXP, Windows Server 2003.
You can create individual cd’s per OS or language selected.
You can also created a DVD with win2k, WinXP, and Server 2000 all in 1 disk. creates a 1.6GBish .iso.
I’ve used this several times when cleaning a virus from a machine to patch the machine without connecting it to the wire. I also use it when building Windows Server 2003 servers so save time downloading updates.
Works very well, our helpdesk has adopted it as a tool of choice vs. using the Windows Update Webpage.
